With the DARC Surface, you can control any Dante network audio source. Mix, adjust levels, everything you need for an On-Air or production room console.
Simple & Configurable
- 8, 12 or 16 Channel Models. DARC Surface comes in 3 different models. Whether the 8 with its small profile yet powerful design, or the 16, with all the faders you could ever need.
- DARC Virtual Console Software. The DARC Virtual Software comes included in the package deals. The DARC Surface works in harmony with the DARC Virtual Console software.
- Simple IP. The DARC Surface, along with the DARC Virtual Console, will work with any Dante enabled device on your network. This includes our Simple IP units, which can have either Analog or Digital Inputs & Outputs.
Programmable Inputs & Outputs
The DARC Surface is a Digital AoIP console. Being digital means that your audio is handled digitally, and there is no signal degradation within the board. It is protected from RF and is very flexible.
Being AoIP also means that the DARC Surface has access to any audio input or output on your Dante local network. Quickly select your inputs and outputs via the DARC Virtual Console software. OR swap assignments via the 4 programmable buttons on the DARC Surface.
Mic Channels
- 1 to 16 Mic channels. Your choice, your configuration. Simply connect your mics to the Simple IP inputs.
- Direct Plug & Play. Directly connect the Mic output from the DARC Surface to a Simple IP input for easy setup.
- High performance mic preamps.
- 48 VDC phantom power. (optional extra)
- Mic Monitor Mute. Mic channels will automatically mute the monitor output when activated.
- LED illuminated switches.
Stereo Line Channels
- 1 to 16 Mic channels. Your choice, your configuration. Simply connect your mics to the Simple IP inputs.
- Direct Plug & Play. Directly connect the Mic output from the DARC Surface to a Simple IP input for easy setup.

Phone Hybrid Channel
- Phone channel. Within the DARC software, choose to assign one of your I/O on the Simple IP to a phone mix-minus to connect to your phone hybrid.
- Mix-Minus. Once a channel has been assigned as a Phone channel in the software, it will configure to audio to work with your phone hybrid.
- Talkback. With the Phone channel setup, the first mic channel will have a Talkback function that allows you to talk to the caller off line.
Logic I/O
8 Logic I/O (Surface 8). On the base model of the DARC Surface 8, you get 8 input or output logic pins. Output pins can be connected to an external relay box to send closures. Or receive a 5 volt input closure to perform programmed tasks. Operations like turning an On-Air light on & off, or starting your automation, can all be triggered via the I/O.
24 additional I/O (per optional daughter card). On the DARC Surface 12 you get a total of 32 I/O logic. On the DARC Surface 16 you have 56 I/O pins. More than enough logic for any operation.
2 Output Buses
- PGM, AUD. The DARC Surface comes with 2 output buses. These outputs can either be programmed to play out any audio output on your Dante network, and or be hardwired from the RJ45 outputs on the DARC Surface. These outputs are balanced stereo.
- Monitor & Headphone outputs. The DARC Surface comes with a monitor output to connect to your studio speakers. You may select which output to listen to, such as Program, Audition or Cue. You may also monitor audio via the headphone output. The headphones will continue to play audio even when the monitor speakers are muted by a mic channel.
- Mic Monitor Mute. Mic channels will automatically mute the monitor output and play audio through the headphones when activated. Talk back audio plays through headphones as well.
- Cue Speaker. Built in Cue speaker talkback system with built-in amplifier.
- Monitor input. Use the monitor input to listen to your station's on-air feed.
